30 media and etcetera I should consume before my 30th

My 30th birthday is this Friday and I've decided I'm going to try to read/watch as many of these as I can before that day. When I read-slash-watch something off these lists, I will cross the item off and write the date in smaller letters beside it. Ah, to set such mediocre goals in order to feel more fulfilled when you reach a milestone birthday. #Pathetic Books/Articles The Beautiful Struggle by Ta-Nehisi Coates Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Olivia Wilde Tells Us Her Dos and Don'ts of Turning 30   February 29 4 Dating Realizations I've Had at Age 29   February 29 What Science Says About Being in Your 30s   February 29 "When You Turn 30, It No Longer Sounds Insane That You Might Be a Mom"   February 29 30 Songs That Will Instantly Put You in a Good Mood   March 1 Attention 30-somethings: THIS Is the Perfect Show for You   March 1 Mujerista   March 2 Episodes Sex and the City: Sex and the C...

About Love and Fear

Gilbert Blythe -- both the physical image of the character I conjured up the first time I read L.M. Montgomery's classic book and the character that the recently deceased Jonathan Crombie brought to life -- has always been my ideal. I've always looked for my very own Gilbert. In both the book and the adaptations, he's a steadfast friend, lover, husband, father; he's loyal to a fault; he's patient; he's ambitious and intelligent; he's kind and determined; he's compassionate and devoted; he's witty and wry. Basically, he has all the qualities I hope to find in a man . Physically, Gilbert Blythe shaped who I am attracted to. I often prefer brown haired men. I get lost in hazel eyes. I admire tall men for their poise (despite the fact I insist that I prefer short men). On Saturday night, just as I was finishing the dinner they served at Chantal and Ryan's wedding reception, I received a series of texts from Clea. She was texting to tell me th...

The Keersten to my Carmen

I'm reading this book by Rainbow Rowell called Attachments and it's about this guy who works at a newspaper and monitors the journalists' emails and through the process of monitoring email, he inadvertently falls in love with a film critic who works there because he thinks she's charming and nice and funny, and he accidentally learns (by reading her email...) that she finds him physically attractive and that she refers to him as "My Cute Guy" (McG for short) whenever she talks about him to her bestie, and, as I'm reading this novel, I'm seeing so much of my relationship with Nicole on paper. Because the film critic, Beth, and her best friend, Jennifer, are loyal to one another and are candid and loving and respectful, and it's making me appreciate my friendship with my own best friend all the more. It's making me giggle at the ridiculous names we would give to the cute boys we'd regularly see (but never had the guts to actually talk to...),...

This is old but I wanted to share.
