I miss...

the days when I'd update this blog every other day. I mean, I used to live for this blog. It was my second journal (seeing as I don't really share any private info on here... yikes!) and I'd write an entry with gusto. Now, I don't even journal in my private journal. What's wrong with me? I love writing and want to write books for a living. My life's ambition is to publish a handful of novels and kids' books, slowly building a name for myself until the day I can own my own magazine. le sigh. I miss my drive. I miss my brainstorming sessions; when I would plan worlds, characters and scenarios. People-watching was my all-time favourite pastime. Anyway, whether I want to or not, I'm going to force myself to write a character sketch... TONIGHT. This instance, even. *clears throat* Name No clue YET. Still need to research a name for this girl... Girl, 15 years old, high school student At fifteen years, BLANKG is poised to enter high school. She's nervous,...
The family is going to our homeland on December 19. It's exciting and great and I know we're going to enjoy ourselves, but I don't know if I'm looking forward to it. I'm spoiled and horrible and know it's just the melancholy talking... but... Do I really want to be bombarded by the Family. I'd rather just spend Christmas with my parents, sisters, bro-in-law and niece/nephew. I'm spoiled. I'm rotten. I'm embarrassed.

Happiness, Joy, Glee

The only TV show I watch now (excluding The Office, Big Bang Theory and reruns of 10 Things I Hate About You... *cough*) is Glee. It's amazing, uplifting, addictive and ohsoperfect. *clasps hands* I can't go a week without Glee and well, these past two weeks have been Glee-less (baseball has taken over). Anyway, due to my tendency of creeping (read: lurking) on forums, I saw that one of them asked the others to "sort" the Glee cast according to Houses (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw). It was so much fun to do, and I'm posting my thoughts here for you to peruse. The Kids Rachel - Gryffindor. She's brave and ambitious and truly cares about those she loves. I know ambition is a Slytherin thing, but Rachel is all about the team! Finn - Gryffindor. He's brave and athletic and does what is right (read: expected of him). Quinn - Ravenclaw. She's very intelligent and that is Ravenclaw's most dominant feature. Puck - Gryffindor, b...

Pedestal, Schmedestal!

Pedestal: Pronunciation: \ ˈ pe-dəs-t ə l\ A position of high regard or adoration. When you put someone on a pedestal, you idealize their existence. People typically placed on pedestals range from parents, significant others, and people you adulate (read: celebrities). If by chance you meet this person you adore, odds are you'll be too frightened to act as you normally would or say things that are unexpected... that is to say, without the presence of liquid courage. The first Bedouin concert Nix (a Psych major) and I went to, I remember her turning to me and saying, "You know why the stage is higher up, don't you?" When she saw my blank expression, she quickly informed me that it all stemmed from the idea that by placing the stage higer up, we idolize our favourite bands and singers. It's society's way of manipulating us into adulation. The idea has stuck with me and to this day, when I think someone is too good to be true, I'll think back on Nix's wor...
