Concert-Palooza! huzza!

This past weekend was the best weekend of my young life.

Reason?

Ummmm... MUSIC, son.

On Thursday, I went to Cowtown with my bestie and two of the most chill girls in the world.

Reason?

The inaugural JUNO concert that was going down in Calgary, that's why! Two of my most favourite bands in the whole stinkin' world and my friends??? What's not to like, right??

So anywhoodle, on Thursday it was Fabiana's birthday (and also the day our faves Bedouin Soundclash and Sloan played). So we left at noon in order to get into Cowtown at around 3:00. We get to my aunt's and leave our junk at her casa. It's all good. I look at the clock and realise that it's 3:45 and we should probably get to Olympic Oval before 5:00. We leave, take the C-Train to downtown, get to the venue and watch Calgary's The Dudes who are followed by the New Odds, which we missed because Char and I were FAMISHED and it took the concession people 45 minutes to serve us.... Oh dear.

Then... THEN it was Sloan's turn. They are unbelievably amazing!! My gosh. They are so multitalented and sound amazing live! I might have a crush on all of them... I'm not gonna lie. People were crowd surfing and Chris Murphy (during Coax Me, I think) says "Careful... careful with each other." So great!

Then, Bedouin comes on stage! <3

As usual, they were fantasmic! These two drunk chicks were leaning against us the entire time (and screaming like they were auditioning for a horror flick!) so I wasn't nearly as into their amazing set as I shoulda been. (Can you believe that the next day Bedouin drove to Edmonton for a concert there??? Frig, these guys are unbelievable: they were all (particularly Jay) suffering from jet-lag, caused by a tour through Australia, a video shoot in Japan, a free concert in Cowtown and another concert in Edmonton. What's not to love about them?)
Anyway, the crowd was unbelievable. Don't believe me? Click here.

So anyway, on Friday, Nicole rode the Greyhound into town. So great to be a three again! We met up with Fabiana and Lucina at the venue (Broken City, which we referred to as Broken Shitty because we got lost... haha!). We got there pretty early and people were stoked for Woodpigeon (they are pretty fantasmic! I really liked them!) and at around 12:45 am (after Woodpigeon finished their set), The Saint Alvia Cartel boys showed up... my gawrsh! They are soooOOooOOoOoooo great!

And funny... and NICE!

We chatted after the show and they are honestly six of the humblest, most-down-to-earth dudes ever.
