"my" first published work... Official

I went on the Lobster Press website today, after ignoring it since March. What I found was both exciting and hurtful simultaneously. The boardbooks that the three other interns and I worked on are now being advertised. Thing is, they're not being advertised as works written by Marcela from Edmonton or Erin from Boise... they're crediting another lady with having written our words... having come up with our ideas...  I'm conflicted. I know that we agreed that we wouldn't get credit for having written the dang books, but is it too much to ask that they keep it UNcredited?? Do they have to credit anyone? Can't they just credit the illustrator...? The so-called author didn't even write  the books, so why credit her? Anyway, I'm going in circles (again). I'm disillusioned... I feel betrayed... I feel as though my words will never be heard. And while I'd rather be eulogized upon my death for having been a good and loyal person, I still want my  hard work t...

Dream Job

I applied for my dream job.  I had the interview already. It's in Montreal. I should have stayed. I still don't know if I'm going to get the job. It would be beyond awesome if I did, but I'm here... the job's there. Who knows what will happen. I'm beginning to wonder if the memories I have of this summer are as significant as I thought they were. I'm feeling isolated from the rest of Edmonton--even my best friends seem distant. I'm going through another one of my existential crises... Surprise, surprise. If you want to see my dream job's site, click here .

Le Fin

I met with my creative writing prof, Scot Morison. He's amazing. One of those individuals that you are lucky to have in your life. He was mentored by Rudy Wiebe (RUDY WIEBE!!), is a documentary screenwriter and is quite possibly one of the best teachers I have ever had. He told me that my mechanics were solid (SOLID!) and that my best writing attribute was my vivid imagination. Overall, I left our meeting feeling like I CAN and WILL be published. Either in the near-future or sometime in the.... far-future...? hahaha! I can't believe I'm finished my degree. Wow. Only took me four bloody years! I'm so nervous/excited about my PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERNSHIP!! WTF?!?!!!!?!?! Yewp. I'm doing PR. In Montreal... For three months... I have to wear corporate attire... I am old. I will age five years this summer. I'm so stoked! I am going to submit two of my stories to Canadian literary rags this summer. It's decided. If I don't try, I'll never know...
