Update...? Kind of.

I have been on the other side of 2017 for four months as of today. Four months in which I've met wonderful people, have become a part of interesting organizations, and even started new ventures. It's been interesting and wonderful and cripplingly terrifying all at once. Tomorrow I start a new job. One that I interviewed for and have kind of, sort of, maybe been dreaming of since I was in school. It's a writing job. An honest-to-goodness, pinch-me-I'm-dreaming writing job. Part of me is terrified at the prospect of starting this new job, but another part of me is sort of blasé. I mean, why get excited about this when I can't guarantee that it will go all right? It seems like this year's theme is: Just when things start going right, I hit a bump in the road and it all goes to shit. I can't trust things right now. Life is trying to teach me a lesson and I'm confused and unsure and I don't know which steps to take. One thing's for sure, though....

Updates, Updates, Updates Galore!

Hello, Internet! It's been a hot minute, has it not? The last time I wrote was in  May . May: The month everything changed. I left my job, I started job hunting, I decided to go back to school, I decided to quit dating, I had a month-long panic attack that resulted in extreme vertigo, and I decided to actively pursue a career in writing. See? A  lot  of changes. Also: Nicole and Rylan are moving to Germany for two years while she gets her Masters. Yeah. I kept that to myself. Not for any specific reason, but more because I haven't wanted to share my friends' business. Add to this, the fact that I've been going through stuff. These last five months have been tough on me and it's made it hard for me to accept that things in my personal life are changing, too. So, I'm going to be completely honest. I'm not the same person I was a few months ago. Well, I  am  in the sense that I'm still me, but in terms of how I defined myself... fuck. I don't ...

Practically a Month Later ...

I really did try to be better writing-wise. But, as is always the case with me, real life got in the way. Janis and Wyatt got married on July 23, so the week leading up to that was hectic. After their wedding, I tried to catch up on household chores--this means I reorganized the stuff in my room and did a lot of cleaning--and caught up with friends after work. So. No writing. Anyway, I can make a thousand and one excuses, but the fact remains: I didn't keep my last promise. I have a habit of doing that, hey? Still, I feel that my writing work ethic has improved in that I'm actually writing. Since my last post, I've started two drafts and I've started pre-editing my novel. If that isn't progress, well then I honestly don't know what is. Baby steps. Baby steps. Also, I'm reminded of an uncomfortable truth I shared with my Mellie a year ago: I have another, more pressing, issue I need to attend to before I can follow the rest of my script. I'm try...

I'm a wiener!

November 30, 2015 will go down as the day I reached 50K words after a thirty-day endeavour to write my first novel. November 30 is also Lucy Maud Montgomery's date of birth. As anyone who knows me can attest, I've always wanted to be LM Montgomery.  Having achieved this goal, I feel like I have a leg up on my writing career.

Not psychic. Just really good at making assumptions and jumping to conclusions.
