Current (Love) Playlist (UPDATE)

Image
Every time I think I like someone  (Lies. I actually like someone. I'm just embarrassed that I  still  have feelings for him, so I'm saying I don't.) , I compile a list of songs that fit with my feelings for him. My current playlist includes: Talking Body (Tove Lo) Partition (Beyoncé) Elastic Heart (Sia) Soundwave (Trevor Guthrie) Blue Jeans (RAC Remix) (Lana Del Rey) Some Boys (Death Cab for Cutie) Style (Taylor Swift) Ride Wit Me (Nelly feat. St. Lunatics) Goodies (Ciara feat. Petey Pablo) Milkshake (Kelis) Get Low (Lil Jon) Izzo (H.O.V.A.) Jay Z There is no better music genre to express new ( old ) infatuations than pop music.

Vancouver: Where the men are hot (and immature) and the weather is perfect (and rainy)

I decided to visit Mel in Vancouver this past weekend. We met at a bar (the Black Frog) where I met her friends Tona and Mac. We didn't stay at the Black Frog (whomp-whomp) 'cause we had to head out to a grad show at this very awesome venue a few blocks away. Mellie so smelly.  I really dug the decor there: cartoony monkeys and humans hanging off the walls and from the ceiling; plushy couches and high bar stools; accent lights and twinkle lights. It was beautiful inside! It seemed like a very fit venue for such a diverse and creative bunch. Animators are artists who, I feel, grew up wishing that they lived in the world of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where humans and zany cartoons coexisted. Animators are hilarious and friendly and weirdly shy and very enthusiastic about the media (magazines, television shows, movies) they consume. Animators are, for lack of a better word, interesting. After the grad show, Tona went with us back to Mel's place, where we sat and chatte

About Love and Fear

Gilbert Blythe -- both the physical image of the character I conjured up the first time I read L.M. Montgomery's classic book and the character that the recently deceased Jonathan Crombie brought to life -- has always been my ideal. I've always looked for my very own Gilbert. In both the book and the adaptations, he's a steadfast friend, lover, husband, father; he's loyal to a fault; he's patient; he's ambitious and intelligent; he's kind and determined; he's compassionate and devoted; he's witty and wry. Basically, he has all the qualities I hope to find in a man . Physically, Gilbert Blythe shaped who I am attracted to. I often prefer brown haired men. I get lost in hazel eyes. I admire tall men for their poise (despite the fact I insist that I prefer short men). On Saturday night, just as I was finishing the dinner they served at Chantal and Ryan's wedding reception, I received a series of texts from Clea. She was texting to tell me th

CP is married! (UPDATE)

Chantal married Ryan last night and it was a beautiful ceremony. They're so smitten with one another. Funny, but the first time she was engaged, I knew I wasn't going to be invited. Tarek never liked me (I am very aware of that) and she and I had grown so apart, that I kind of figured I wouldn't be there on her big day. Fast-forward to last night where I witnessed just how much she loves Ryan and how much he loves her. They're so adorable and they're so in love and it warms my heart. I fucked up, though. I won't document the reasons for said fuck-up or what it is I fucked up, but I will say that the shame I feel right now will likely persist for a long while and, well, that sooks. I'm updating this to include the only selfie Nix and I took. Look at me! I'm a highlighter!

Late night obsessions.

Goodbye, old friends.

When I first visited my sister and her husband in Frankfurt ( 2012 ), I went to this amazing store called   Primark . I equate this Irish store to the US's Forever 21 or the UK's TopShop. It's an affordable clothing store that has very trendy and fashionable clothes and accessories. I spent around  € 300 on new pants, shirts, blazers, cardigans, shoes, and dresses. In short, I created a new wardrobe for myself. After that trip, I think I really created my "fashion identity". These amazing shoes have become a staple in my outfits. They're comfortable, they're pretty , and they're my favourites. Alas, after the past three-ish years of wear and tear, I think they're ready for me to say goodbye.  I've done some research on the subject and have learned that Nike has a Reuse-A-Shoe program and that Edmonton's Salvation Army (a society I rarely support because of its stance on homosexuality and, well, marriage equality ) have shoe r
