She used to hate the Killers.

Something about Brandon Flowers and his eye makeup would make her cringe inwardly. She'd smile politely when people would talk about how "epic" their sound was, would nod her head when people would go on and on about how "life-changing" their music was. But when they would ask for her opinion, she would be blunt: "they're overrated."

So it came as no surprise to her, really, when it turned out that he - the first boy who'd nudged the dormant butterflies in her tummy awake with his smiles and his laugh and his jokes and him - was a fan. He'd gaped at her upon hearing her real opinion about the Killers. It wasn't that she's a snob, really.

Okay. Yeah. She was. Is. Whatever.

She is pretty snobby about the music she listens to. Looks down on anyone, really, who has less-than stellar taste in music. But that all changed when she fell in love with him. She couldn't think less of him if she tried. He was already raised high on his pedestal and try as she might, she couldn't push him off.

She went through the same motions we all do when we fall in love. Experienced the same changes we all do when we fall in love. She never wanted this. Never expected to feel so much for one single person; the changes were unprecedented, unexpected and sudden.

She started blushing. Started wearing makeup. Started doing her hair. And, most telling of all, she was willing to give the Killers another chance for him.

It was nasty. Terrible. She was never that girl until she was. And she didn't like it. It wasn't her and it wasn't the her she knew. She was a stranger to herself and that's what made her resent the changes all the more. She once prided herself on understanding her motivations and her actions but no matter how self-aware she once was, that all disappeared the moment she started caring about him.

But she couldn't say no when he invited her to the concert. She wanted to spend time with him. That concert was special. He was all excitement and anticipation; anxious to see if he could convert her.

She'd never admit it, but he'd already managed to convert her. Simply knowing he enjoyed their music was enough to make her download Sam's Town onto her iPod.

What was her problem?!
